Intellectual Property / Case Tracking System Summary
Tracks Patent Cases, including PCT and Foreign
CTS tracks patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as tracking these cases through the PCT and foreign processes in each country. CTS tracks all the dates involved in the filing, including patent publication, and tracks each office action independently. CTS also tracks Prior Art Searches and Assignments. When you file a PCT Request for the case, CTS calendars all the dates necessary to complete Chapter I of the PCT. If you elect Chapter II and file a Demand, CTS then calendars all the dates to complete the international phase. When you file the case in a foreign country, CTS allows you to quickly reference all the data you need to handle any type of action in the foreign jurisdiction, including information about your local counsel in each country, and CTS allows you to track any deadlines due in the foreign jurisdiction.
Tracks Trademark Cases, including U.S., State and Foreign
For U.S. Trademark applications, CTS tracks both Use and Intent to Use applications, including the date for filing the statement of use, and all possible dates for filing extensions to file the statement of use. CTS also tracks clearance searches, Trademark assignments and Trademark Opposition/Cancellation cases. For State and Foreign cases, CTS tracks information about the filing in each state/country, including information about your local counsel in each state/country. CTS also tracks Opposition and Cancellation proceedings
CTS also has screens for Patent and Trademark ex Parte appeals. These screens include reminders for all the events that typically occur during an ex Parte appeal, and the screens also include an actions section for an unlimited number of other items that must be done as part of the appeal.
Tracks Copyright Cases, Trade Secret Cases, Licensing Cases and General Cases.
IP/CTS tracks Copyright applications, Trade Secret Cases, including who has accessed each trade secret, Licensing Cases, including the intellectual property licensed, and and it has a general case screen for other IP matters.
Displays Calendared Dates Automatically.
Each time you display a case on the screen, CTS automatically displays all the Calendared dates for the case. You define how far in the future you want CTS to display the calendared dates, but CTS remembers them all, and will display each date before you need to act upon it.
CTS automatically reminds you of most dates for cases, and you can set the time for each reminder. You can also add any reminders to any case you like. You can even add reminders for non-case related items, such as paying taxes, or your mother's birthday. You can also create Reminder Rules which allow CTS to automatically create reminders each time a case record is saved.
Current Reminders
CTS has a Current Reminders screen that displays automatically when CTS is started, to display the reminders for the user who logged on. If you double click a reminder on this screen, CTS will automatically display the screen containing the reminder. Current Reminders are displayed in color, wherein Red indicates missed dates, Yellow indicates dates due within a month, and Green indicates dates due beyond one month. Also, if a reminder is due on that day, CTS displays a large red warning line!
Extensive Case Finder
CTS allows you to search on any field in the database, search using text or dates, including date ranges, and search using different types of comparison (i.e., equal, greater, etc.). You can also search any FlexFields defined. Searches can be performed on up to ten fields at the same time, either matching on all fields or matching on any of the ten fields.
Forms Library
CTS includes a library of forms that can be printed through either Corel WordPerfect or Microsoft Word, directly from within CTS. CTS also includes all the EFS forms used by the PTO, which are filled in using Adobe Acrobat Reader. CTS fills in most of the data on a form (for most forms it fills in all of the data), then displays the form in WordPerfect, Word or Acrobat Reader so that you can add any additional information before actually printing the form. Presently, this library includes over 250 forms, and growing!
Malpractice Insurance
Insurance carriers require you to keep two dockets, and most are now asking for one of those docket systems to be computerized. But more importantly, you will sleep better knowing that CTS is helping you remember important dates.
